It is comprehensive educational programme aimed to prepare graduate speech and hearing professionals who independently can undertake and execute effectively diagnostic and therapeutic management of Speech, Language and Hearing disorders. Speech Pathology and Audiology are complementary sciences. They are taught together so that the graduates may choose to practise in either of the fields. They will understand the problem and requirements of both the professions. so that they may be able to run a Speech & Hearing clinic independently.

       Speech therapy is concerned with the assessment and treatment of disorders of Voice, Speech and language. Audiology is the study of hearing sciences and is mainly concerned with the different methods of testing hearing and techniques of rehabilitation of the hard of hearing and deaf children.
       Such graduates shall be eligible for appointment in hospitals, speech & hearing centres, ENT Dept. Paediatric Dept. Neurology Dept. in medical college hospitals, spastic centres, schools for the deaf, schools for the mentally retarded children, child guidance centres etc. as speech pathologist and / or audiologist. They may assist the training programmes in speech & hearing as clinical supervisors, research assistants and clinical assistants. They may also be appointed in industrial establishment, armed forces and medical services in industrial set-ups as research assistants or clinical assistants.
       There is lack of trained personals in this faculty and as such, there are great demands of such professionals in the country and abroad.
